Now, would you pick Carroll..
If he was fit, would you pick him now ahead of the players we're currently starting with?

Early days of course, but now we look like playing decent football I can't see where his style would fit.

It's not the lads fault I guess but he looks surplus to requirements now.

Knock him out to Newcastle simply to recover some money.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
We scored three headers yesterday. If you put that sort of service in for Carroll he'll score an absolute sackfull.

That said we've got a partnership that's working well and scoring goals. Carroll only gets in if he shows he works better in the system than one of them.

Good to hear.

Perfect situation for him to make a return. Has competition but the club isn't wholly relying on him. No need to rush him back. Good movement around him in the squad.

Lets see if he can do what he has before in this league.

Dapablo . . . Carroll is a centre forward , not a striker .

He'll be massive, three strikers trying to outdo each other will be a joy not long felt.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
He is looking really good in training as well.

He has impressed all the staff with his attitude towards getting himself fit, he really has worked his bollocks off to be at the stage he is now.

We finally have some good competition up front, so why worry about who wins a place?

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Agreed, Carroll needs to stay, it's a long season and he is a quality player if he can keep his fitness. Sakho and Valencia get injured and we are fucked and given the service that the front men are getting Carroll will also get a hatfull.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Some people on here speculated that when Nolan was fit he'd be shooed into the starting eleven by BFS. That has not proved to be the case. A fit and raring to go Andy Carroll is a different player though. Competition for a first team place is a good thing.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Carroll has been training fully this past week and is strongly being considered for the squad for the Man City match next Saturday.

We need Carroll Sakho and Valencia. It's a long season and people won't all stay fit. No point in flogging Carroll as it weakens the SQUAD.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
It's a long season...maybe even a Cup run...

So we will need depth in the striker category...

Can't rely on CFC...

If fully fit and motivated Carroll would be our 3rd choice...and if he performs could displace one of our current top 2...

But ONLY if his performances justify it...

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
I am sure if fit, match fit that is, Carroll would be at least on the bench if not starting. Competition for striking places is what we need. He'd basically replace Cole except he's got more to his game.

Nolan on the other hand looks to me, with our present squad, to have reached the point where being a regular bench warmer is his role.

no but he'd be a decent option off the bench

The African Cup of Nations beckons. Sakho; Song will be away and back come? you guessed Big Andy and Kevin Nolan. This time though if they play like they have recently (or not in the case of Carroll) they won't keep their places.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Given the way Sakho and Valencio are playing he is unlikely to get in unless one of them gets injured. Although it is early days Sakho looks to be the best striker we have had since Ashton. The pundits are raving about Costa but, for a fraction of the price Sakho could also be the signing of the season.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Realistically we can't have a £15m player earning £70 or £80k or whatever it is sat on the bench. Therefore for me he needs to start or be sold. I think if he starts at the moment he ruins the dynamic of the side, by that i mean the quick counterattack etc. So i would sell him for £10m in the transfer window and look to bring in another striker.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
I don't see how we can afford to keep him on the bench. At the moment we're looking at losing Reid so we probably need two defenders plus a goalkeeper. I'm not convinced by Adrian.

Carroll costs a lot in wages.

I'm not sure when we're up against our wage budget that it is a sensible use of funds.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
As much as I love Sakho's goal scoring, his first half was extremely poor at times.

Course carroll can play a part. We just scored 3 headers!!
